The use of renewable energy sources in households in the Lower Silesia region

Summary/Abstract: The article concerns the analysis of the results of surveys conducted in Lower Silesia in 2016 by the author, The aim of the article is to identify the state of the use of renewable energy sources (RES) by the respondents and the analysis and evaluation of their propensity to invest in renewable microinstallations. At the beginning the methodology of the survey, including sampling and purpose of the survey was presented. Another part of the article concerns the characteristic of energy performance of buildings inhabited by the respondents. Only 5% of them declare that they have homes energy efficient, consuming or heating no more than 70 kWh/m2 per year. The share of renewable sources in both, heating water and heating the house in the study population is negligible. In the next part of the article, the plans for the use of renewable energy sources and the tendency of respondents to spend their funds for this purpose were analyzed. The research conducted by the author shows that interested and planning to invest in renewable energy is 22% of the study population, but only half are ready to put their own financial resources to microinstallations. The article uses the research methods such as the method of statistical questionnaires, analysis, synthesis, evaluation and observation.
