Summary/Abstract: For the past quarter century, in modern day Romania, both politicians and the media have been launching or reviving gallicisms, which, upon their introduction, have been almost constantly present in official situations and news articles. Among these adopted gallicisms, some can be attributed to snobism. However, looking past this view, due to their affiliation with a romance language, they can be cautiously considered as contributing factors to the ‘relatinisation’ of the Romanian language. Each of the terms is presented with a brief commentary, followed by the semantical explanations identified in the consulted French and Romanian lexicographical sources. They are further supported by examples.
