Summary/Abstract: The concept of smart city is a modern idea of urban development, which is in response to the increasing processes of urbanization. Smart cities thanks to information and communication technologies more effectively use the available resources to improve city’s quality of life and ensure its sustainable development. Vienna is a city that has successfully realized the idea of this concept and currently is the leader of many rankings concerning smart city concept. The article analyzes the activities of the Austria’s capital in the area of creating an smart city, presenting the benefits of implementing such a policy development.
