Summary/Abstract: The Ph.D. dissertation of Anna Radziwiłł (1939–2009) on the educational ideology of the Sanation (Poland 1926–39), defended at the University of Warsaw, in the Institute of History (1967) belongs to the most legendary academic texts of the political breakthrough in Poland in 1966–67. Because of its political context, the dissertation was not published. The purpose of this paper is to trace the motives and methods of the activity of the university authorities, the supervisor (Adela Bornholtz) and the reviewers of the thesis to make possible the Ph.D. defence of the young aristocrat Anna Radziwiłł, who wrote on the politically “uncomfortable” theme.
