Summary/Abstract: Kaizen is a management concept, which in recent years has enjoyed great success among Polish enterprises. Managers are well aware that in order to reduce costs, increase productivity, gain customers and obtain competitive advantages, you need to change the mindset of employees and show them the way. Such an opportunity is given by the kaizen activities, which encourage companies to improve business and innovation. The article is a theoretical- empirical one and consists of two parts. The first, theoretical one presents a brief characterization of the kaizen and compares the traditional culture with the culture of kaizen. The second part – empirical – presents the results of the research on the evaluation of kaizen in Polish companies and indicates the main features and difficulties during the implementation of continuous improvement. The research was conducted among people involved in kaizen/ lean, or working in companies which are familiar with the concept of continuous improvement.
