Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the study on the relationship between the assumptions of the theory of free trade and economic practice of sharing economy models. The assumptions of sharing economy models were presented as well as selected examples of companies operating in the analysed model showing the growth of the phenomenon of management both in Poland and in the world. The article also describes the risks that can result in the unfettered movement of the new management model. The European Union sees sharing economy as an opportunity for the EU countries to provide important impetus for development. Innovative business models, despite advanced plans to regulate the phenomenon at the Community level, can become a driving force for EU economies. However, it is no longer pure form of free trade.
