Summary/Abstract: M. Urbaitis' music for drama theatre performances has never been thoroughly analysed. The composer has been creating it in this genre for a rather long time. With his over seventy pieces of music he was one of the most prolific composers of the eighties and nineties. In the composer's words, theatre made a great impact on his style. This paper reviews theatrical scores created by M. Urbaitis in the period of 1972-1985. Referring to the composer's musical manuscripts and interviews, some features and peculiarities of his creative work have been revised. The paper focuses on his more interesting works of music. In general, M. Urbaitis' music for drama performances is an original and engrossing page in the history of this genre. The composer's individual style, technological aesthetic canons permeate his theatrical scores. The latter are characterized by the composer's bent for minimalism and expression imposed by his technological instrumentality. The "striking" of his style in drama theatre is an indication of indispensability of the artistic composer's individuality to dramatic action. As if having a foreboding about it, V Landsbergis has let it out that in the composer's music works there flashes "chamber theatre striving for universality".
