Protection of the Industrial Property Rights of Innovative Companies

Summary/Abstract: The article discusses issues related with the industrial property protection in innovative enterprises activity. It presents arguments for and against maintaining exclusive rights as well as new models of innovativeness stimulation. The aim of the study is to investigate whether and to what extent innovative Polish companies use industrial property protection in ongoing strategies. The study was conducted based on source documents of the Polish Patent Office. To preserve the analysis integrity, time range has been set for the years 1998–2013, while subjective range embraced entities, which in 2008–2010 occupied top positions in innovativeness rankings published by INE PAN.
