Summary/Abstract: The desire of development of competences of self-employed women in Poland and the increase of those competences as a result of running own business were analysed in the article. This paper has a theoretical and empirical character. Theoretical deliberations were dedicated to the definition of key and emotional competences. The aim of the empirical study was to evaluate determinants and consequences of women’s self-employment in Poland. The article presents the results of research on the declared willingness of development of individual competences and their increase due to conducting own business.
