A new use for historical Polish dictionaries

Summary/Abstract: The paper is primarily devoted to the use of historical Polish dictionaries ({Słownik polszczyzny XVII i I poł. XVIII wieku} in the first place) while transforming old texts into a machine-readable form. The authors–employees of Chair of Formal Linguistics–took part in the European IMPACT project (October 2010-December 2011) whose aim was to increase the accessibility of digitalized texts by providing a suitable specialized linguistic description and computer processing. The article presents the use of data from the above-mentioned dictionary for the creation of lexicons aimed at increasing the level of automatic text recognition.
