Summary/Abstract: In the view of the latest research concerning the Słownik wileński [‘Vilnius dictionary’], the author sustains the claims expressed in his 1991 book {Słownik wileński na tle dziejów polskiej leksykografii} [The Vilnius Dictionary in the context of the history of Polish lexicography]. The dictionary in question was the first concise reference book in the history of the Polish lexicography, which in turn influenced its microstructure (entry construction). It was nevertheless a result of extensive excerption of various sources that led to collecting a variety of words (including specialized and regional vocabulary) and contributed to the dictionary becoming a reliable and representative reference work, particularly for colloquial Polish of the North-Eastern Borderlands. It was also the first collectively compiled dictionary in the history of the Polish lexicography, which resulted in heterogeneity of the work (the authors decided to divide among themselves the entries to be edited).
