Summary/Abstract: International cross-border and interregional cooperation is an important factor inthe development of regions divided by a border. It is an element which changes the perceptionof the border. It becomes a stimulus to enter into social and economic cooperation. Crossbordercooperation is one of the crucial elements of regional policy. An important part ofcross-border contacts is the increase in border traffic and the development of border trade.The aim of this article is to present selected issues connected with the development of bordertraffic as an important factor shaping the cross-border cooperation and the development ofthe cross-border region. The article presents selected results of research conducted in theborderland area between Poland and Germany.
