Summary/Abstract: Suffering is the reality that most concerns us in this life. From a rational point of view, suffering is like a curse, like something that no one desires in his/her lifetime. Otherwise, from a spiritual point of view, it is something pozitive, redemptive. The power and mening of suffering find its roots in the suffering of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Suffering is a way to the eternal life. This fact has been understood in a clear way by all saints, who bore their sufferings, so taking part to the suffering of Jesus. If suffering is an important way to the eternal life why do we want to make it go away? In this context, we will analize the relation between suffering, sickness and healing, stressing the importance of The Holy Mystery of Anoninting of the Sick. The sources we find of absolut relevance to suport the ideas of this study are the Holy Bible and the writings of the Holy Fathers of the Church.
