Shaping potential for innovative economy

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper was to present the complexity of the notion of potential for innovative economy. Particular emphasis was put on the fact that the notion of resources, as an economic category, must not be identified with the notion of potential. Potential should always be understood with reference to the objectives of a given activity. Here, the structure of the notion of potential for innovative activity was shown, its elements and measurements, as well as modes of shaping the human capital treated here as the most important component of the potential under discussion. Lack of adequate theoretical discussion of the essence, meaning and ways of shaping potential for innovative activities is an important problem of the entire innovation theory.
