Summary/Abstract: The fact that all innovations have social ramifications sets the starting point for our investigations. We assume that innovations are all dedicated primarily to one goal: to improve the quality people’s lives. This issue will be discussed on the basis of the test results of students WSM in Warsaw. In this article the following three concepts are distinguished: universal innovations; economic innovations; finally, social innovations. We focus on the latter and define them as changes within the social structure, implemented in order to improve standards and quality of living as well as to set up new forms of interpersonal relations. Social innovations are dedicated to democratization of social life, improvement of social capital, thereby defending societies against the perils of disintegration. The idea of social innovations is elaborated and a classification thereof is provided in the article. We suppose that the need for social innovations will increase in the years to come.
