Summary/Abstract: Liturgical – musical books containing Gregorian chant are extremely valuable sources of information for different kinds of research: historical, liturgical, musicological studies and others. The issue being concerned refers to the printed ordinal Processionale… reductum from year 1759, from the library of the Carmelite monastery in Obory. The aim of this study is, first, to present the most characteristic features of the Carmelite book and then, to compare it to Processionale by Andrzej Piotrkowczyk from 1621. Having analysed the repertoire, it can be stated that Processionale from Obory was a liturgical book used in the local monastery. It depicts a living tradition of organizing processions during certain festivities of the liturgical year. The fact that such a book was issued proves the monks’ need for this form of religiousness. Comparing it to the edition by A. Piotrkowczyk (Proprium de Sanctis), the content of the Obory book is quite modest. The main reason for this could be the fact that Piotrkowczyk edition was to serve the whole province, while the Carmelite book was only for a particular monastery. The following study is meant as a starting point for further complete research of Carmelite books.
