Summary/Abstract: Anna R. Burzyńska reviews The Republic of Slovenia, a performance created at Slovensko mladinsko gledališče in Ljubljana (prem.: 20 Apr 2016). The politically bold production is an anonymous work, because, as its creators claim, the Republic of Slovenia itself (no italics or quotation marks here) is a huge performance produced 25 years ago with the money of the taxpayers, a performance which is still running and which features all citizens of the country. The tripartite production uses means characteristic of documentary and verbatim theatre to pose questions about the criteria of the truth and political ethics.
