Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article was to identify the degree of polarization of Polish metropolitan areas and to show the changes in the years 2003 and 2013. The study included six Polish metropolitan areas: Warsaw, Wroclaw, Krakow, Szczecin, Lodz and Poznan. It was carried out using Hellwig’s synthetic measure of development. The results indicate that Warsaw and Poznan were the most polarized metropolitan areas.
