Summary/Abstract: Traditionally, from ancient times until now in medical practice doctors are responsible for the consequences of every action. Medics are morally obliged to comply with good and evil and to act with a sense of moral obligation. All who work in the medical practice should have a clear sense of duty, obligation and responsibility. Modern medical technologies already use biological information such as genomics to provide adequate interventions to patients. The report examines some of the ethical issues, incl. and moral responsibilities that arise in terms of modern medicine, because of the complexity of providing individual care for patients. In comparative terms, is considered the classic engagements of ancient healers to the patient based on the basic well known principles. Aim of this study is to highlight some of the moral responsibilities of physicians in terms of modern medicine and their comparison with those of the past. Material and methods. Conducted was an anonymous sociological survey of 380 students from the Faculty of Public Health at the Medical University of Sofia. Analyzed are the results from a study of issues affecting reducing the incidence of major diseases using the forecasting capabilities of modern medicine, allowing greater visibility of its possibilities, concerns about various discriminatory effects due to genetic or chromosomal defect etc. The results show that future medics realize the moral aspect of the introduction of high tech medicine in practice. They are aware that in the future to their moral responsibilities should count also the preparing of society to adopt to the new and updated model of individualized medical care.
