Summary/Abstract: The main objective of the article is to represent some of the educational aspects along with their specificity regarding children in ancient Israel. Judaism has always considered children to be a gift, a blessing from God. For this reason, parents are responsible for upbringing their children. Talmud even says that it is a parent’s responsibility to see that children are raised and educated in Judaism. Jewish education and upbringing begin in the children’s home where children are exposed to prayer at an early age. The article is divided into two parts. The first part defines such terms as: education, children and upbringing. The second part contains a thorough presentation of schools and learning methods in ancient Israel.
