Summary/Abstract: This paper analyzes the conditions of bringing local authorities and officials to political responsibility within the municipal reform in the Russian Federation. The author’s attention is focused on the problem of differentiation between political and legal responsibilities at the municipal level. The grounds for political responsibility may be a law violation for which measures of legal responsibility have already been applied to an offender. In certain cases the subjects of local government bear political responsibility for the behavior of other people.
