Summary/Abstract: Archivist Society of Serbia is a professional social organization that includes all employed in archival business in Serbia's archives. One of the main objectives of the Society since its founding in 1954. is professional improvement and education of the members (around 600 of them at the moment) as well as contemplating actual question from archivistic field and popularization of archival service. During nineties work of the Society comletely stopped, and was renewed in 2005. Since then the Society has organized debates and considered several professional subjects. Professional conference ,,Preservation of archival material and registry material of state and collective-owned companies in the process of privatization" has been organized together with Archive of Serbia as well as the lecture ,,International archival standards and its application". In 2007. the Society started the periodical ,,Arhivski glasnik" /,,Archival herald"/ designed to assist in fast and substantial exchange of informations and news regarding work in archives and archival practice.
