Summary/Abstract: After the proclamation of the Kingdom of Romania and the crowning of King Carol I, the political concerns did not cease for the Royal House, but on the contrary. It was even in the proximity of Romania, in Bulgaria and Serbia, for instance, where the monarchs had great difficulties in preserving their throne and ensuring political stability to their states. The Romanian politicians managed to consolidate the position of the Kingdom by a series of laws and opportune decisions. Therefore, the strengthening of the position of Romania as a Kingdom was made firstl by adopting measures with a symbolical value such as: the establishing of the Romanian Crown medal, the adoption of the appellation of Votre Majesté for King Carol in diplomatic documents, the establishing of the official name of Kingdom of Romania in the revised Constitution of 1884, the changing of the coat-of-arms by means of a royal crown made of steel above the flag, the new coin of 5 lei, in which the royal title is mentioned and the new coat-of-arms is engraved. Adopted in 1884, the Law of the Crown Estate consolidates the financial position of the Royal House, but also enhances its international prestige, emphasizing the equality position among the other kingdoms in Europe. Although it was voted in an atmosphere full of tension, one could note that the administration of the estate got involved in forest planning, in the rational exploitation of the forests, in restoring some old churches and schools, or moreover in building new ones, in equipping them, often acting in other territories that were not under their care.
