Summary/Abstract: A part of the Albanian historiographical community even to this day continues to study and use as a reference the so-called Zogu-Pasic Agreement of 1924 ,referring to a 16 bullet point document known as “EXTRACT Copy of the Agreement concluded in Belgrade on the August of 1924, between PRESIDENT PACHICH and AHMET ZOGU” (ESTRATTO Copia delfintesa conclusa a Belgrado nell'Agosto 1924 tra il PRESIDENTE PACHICH ed AHMET ZOGU), found on Italian Archives. This document was served to the Italian diplomatic service by the end of 1925, and in the beginning of 1926, by unnamed individuals. According to this “document”, Ahmet Zogu waives away the independence of Albania and gives it to the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes in order to secure, as compensation for the lost independence, an administrative role in Tirana. The Authors of the writings under this review use their entire energy and knowledge towards the goal of strengthening the authenticity of this “document” and are convinced at the authenticity of the contents thereof. From the research done in the archives of Tirana and Belgrade, the author of this review concludes that in many of the writings published in recent years there is: a lack of scientific standards regarding the identification of the authenticity of the sources- the document in hand; incorrect use and interpretation of secondary sources; manipulation of facts; fabrication of facts; and a total lack of information regarding the archives and the sources which they refer to. The reason for doing this is the sole purpose of denigration of one historical figure, Ahmet Zogu, suggesting that he is responsible for the highest possible treason. This review aims to give a wider scope, regarding the issue in hand, to this part of the historiographic community, the wider scientific community and to the general public, by the use of necessary archival and bibliographical information, as well as an objective and critical reading of the “authentic document”.
