Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the principles of transcription of Lithuanian anthroponymy and toponymy in the Russian language. The existing guidelines for Lithuanian-Russian transcription are examined in light of the current writing practices. The analysis is primarily concerned with the rendering of the Lithuanian letter e after consonants and the spelling of borrowed names in Russian. Suggestions for the improvement of the principles of transcription are also provided.
