Summary/Abstract: In the light of the discourse analysis approach, the researcher analyzes scientific discourse at the lexical level. The aim is to compare the different ways scientific terms are used in the diverse types of speech. The research is built on two key concepts: “reformulation” and “paradigm d´esignationnel”. Distinctive features of the popularization discourse and the traits it shares with other types of scientific discourse were highlighted. Reformulation, a rewrite of a source speech, is found to be a fundamental tool in scientific discourse used to explain scientific terms. The link between the enunciative frame and the reformulation of specialized terms is highlighted and an illustration for the opposition between language and speech is also given.
