Summary/Abstract: If in Autobiography (Autobiografie) Hortensia Papadat-Bengescu avoids bringing to discussion her failed personal life, for perfectly understandable reasons, in her diary pages she describes without reserve her rigid marriage to a man who never welcomed her ideas. With respect to her diary pages, we must say that it is by these that she reveals her rather long judgments on life, but especially on writing and on professional fulfillment. The diary clearly highlights the necessity of writing the novel, but it also shows the fear of the time when, while building her scenarios, she will also find in her own self the most useful cores, so that the separation from subjectivity can hardly be accomplished. The autobiography and the journal pages are equally converging towards Hortensia Papadat-Bengescuřs literature.
