Summary/Abstract: Our study shows a radiography of expressionism, focusing on the plurality of directions of its manifestation. Thus, starting from the European culture and continuing with the assimilation of expressionism in the Romanian space, we will try to focus on the critical opinions (Eugen Simion, Ov. S. Crohmălniceanu, Nicolae Balotă etc) coupled with a brief history of the phenomenon, until the eitghties, including the metamorphoses of this complex phenomenon.
