Summary/Abstract: This paper looks at the myriad facets of the generic term ‘crisis’ as apparent in ‘chick lit’, i.e. literature for young ladies; more specifically, one of Sophie Kinsella’s chick lit novels is under scrutiny here: „Shopaholic Abroad“ (2001). ‘Crisis’ is no monolithic concept in the aforementioned genre; indeed it yields a multitude of nuances that I attempt to decode hereby.
