Søren Kierkegaard’s Concept of Freedom

Summary/Abstract: The choice of freedom that human beings make is strongly related to the manner of their ex-istence. This presence is what decides how much liberty a human being enjoys. Kierkegaard saidthat the person who could achieve the greatest freedom was a religious person. However, this freerein is not elementary and straightforward. As demonstrated by many philosophers, freedom some-times becomes a curse because it makes homo sapiens take responsibility for their own lives,choices and decisions. Kwestia wyborów człowieka jest silnie związana z jego sposobem egzystencji. To właśnie ona decyduje o tym, na ile wolny jest człowiek. Kierkegaard twierdził, że osobą, która może osiągnąć największą wolność, jest człowiek religijny. Nie jest to jednak wolność prosta. Jak pokazuje wielu filozofów, wolność staje się czasem przekleństwem, ponieważ zmusza do brania odpowiedzialności za własne czyny.
