Summary/Abstract: The article shows that choosing accurate educational policy in the field of supporting right programmes of tertiary education on the regional and country level might be beneficial for innovativeness and competitiveness of local economy. The analysis of the most innovative companies in the world and patent applications show that human resources in the fields of: engineering, manufacturing, science, and health are crucial for research and development. The article also analyzes the number of graduates in specific fields of education in China, Poland, USA, Germany, Japan, Great Britain and France. It shows incredible growth in the number of graduates in engineering and other fields of science in China, even compared with its great population. Apart from this the benefit of this growth is the development of the most innovative sectors of Chinese economy.
