The Praise of Positive Deviance by Jerzy Kwaśniewski

Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the concept of positive deviance by Jerzy Kwaśniewski, presented by the scientist at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s. The discussion focuses, among all, on the elementary features of behaviors which may be classified as manifestations of positive deviance. We present the main research directions on positive deviance proposed by Kwaśniewski as well as the basic programmatic assumptions of the Positive Deviance movement active now in the USA and based, to a large extent, on the understanding of positive deviance similar to the definition proposed by Kwaśniewski.
