Summary/Abstract: Stanisław Ossowski explains the concept of esthetic value by an analysis of human responses and human motivations to certain objects. His work is on the border of philosophy of beauty (what is an esthetic experience?) and the psycho-sociology. His study is empirical in nature. We try to reconstruct the project of sociology of art and artistic activity by Stanisław Ossowski. Pierre Bourdieu claiming that a producer of a valuable work of art is not an artist but the field of production started the process of moving apart sociology of art and esthetics on the one hand and philosophy of beauty on the other. Now, it is necessary to look for a new insight into how art is shaped by social settings, by postindustrial economy. It is necessary to consider the impact of the new social and cultural context of art. The paper is focused on new frontiers in sociology of art.
