Summary/Abstract: The concept of literary history in our country has known a long and sinous road before coming to embody the field that we know and study today. Along this road, a number of important figures took turns into molding it, by adding and substracting different components, shaping it to the form that we know today. From a history of culture, to a strict diferentiation between the field of literary criticism and literary history until a final merger of literary history and literary criticism, we have come to discovered that we can’t write literary history without adding an estetic component and we can’t do literary criticism without a certain chronology. This study is a short incursion into the history of the very concept of literary history in Romania and the personalities that had brought changes to this concept.
