Summary/Abstract: The problem of fragmentation of the agrarian Polish countryside still remains one of the key problems of Polish agriculture. This was reflected in prepared for the 2007–2013 Rural Development Program, where the issue of fragmentation of the agrarian figured as a direct or indirect cause of low agricultural productivity, low incomes for farmers, low yields, low production quality, or set- -aside. One of the ideas to improve the situation in this respect is to support the formation of groups of agricultural producers. It is assumed that the horizontal integration will lead farmers to strengthen their bargaining power, and thus to improve their income. In addition, it is assumed that the cooperation between the farmers could bring a reduction of production costs and marketing, improving productivity and quality of agricultural production, and most importantly, become the basis for the creation of vertical integration.
