The family photography in the lens of students’ camera

Summary/Abstract: The paper constitutes an attempt to interpret family photography as vital pedagogical information. Photographies, with their subject: ‘The family’, were taken by the students of the Institute of Pedagogy of the University of Wroclaw. Analysis of the photographs gives a detailed information about the people being photographed, provides knowledge about the prevailing thematic motives, the contextual circumstances, the emotions accompanying the process of taking them and it approximates their social aspect: their social class, sex, and age. It allows the observers to interpret the biographical experiences of the photographers. An endeavour to interpret the photographs presented by students shows an interesting way to understand the concept of the family and a variety of aspects of its functioning.
