Summary/Abstract: A systemic approach is essential in working with the families threatened by social exclusion. This is expressed both in the perception of the family as a whole and in the planning of interdisciplinary strategies of support. This trend is reflected in – among others – the relevant legal acts on social assistance in Poland. Moreover, it also gives the opportunity to create a network of local support in which a strategy of solving social problems – particularly within the family itself –is prepared in cooperation with the local administration. Therefore, the purpose of my article is to present the good practices in providing assistance and support for the families in difficult life situations. The selected programs that have been implemented by Mercury Foundation from Walbrzych since 2006 constitute the research material.
