Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on finding answers: What factors affect the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises and what they do in terms of innovation. The study shows that small and medium-sized enterprises are trying to take innovative actions. They compete with the quality of its products, aiming at including the reduction of operating expenses. Factors driving companies to innovate are functioning in a highly competitive market, concentration on one industry or wish to cooperate with R & D units.
