The impact of illegal waste dumps on the environment: (on example selected cities in the west Pomeranian)

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the effect of the impact of illegal waste dumps on the environment. Discussed the occurrence of illegal landfills in Western Pomerania based on selected cities. The study covers the period 2008–2011. To analyze was used statistical data from publications of GUS and the Regional Environmental Inspectorate in Szczecin (WIOŚ). Hazards caused by the illegal dumping of trash on the environment are mainly: soil contamination, groundwater, drinking water, epidemiological and reduced landscape values.
