Summary/Abstract: In spite of the rapid development of new technologies and media, issues related to media literacy have not been clearly discussed. The new media environment in which recipients are more and more active and devote a considerable amount of time to media content requires responsible, quality approach to media education, especially where children and youth are concerned. The field of media education lacks the systematic approach to improving children’s media literacy. It entails long-term systematic and interdisciplinary changes. Media literacy implies possessing a certain type of knowledge and adopting a critical approach. The development of critical discourse and competencies is the main goal and vital interest of media literacy.
