The Slavonic Translation of Theodoret of Cyrus' Commentaries on the Pentateuch

Summary/Abstract: The article studies Theodoret of Cyras' commentaries on the Pentateuch, preserved only partially in Slavonic literature in various compilations or collections such as the Kaafh Collection dating from the beginning of the 13th century, preserved in the ms. Russian National Library, Petersburg, Q.p.1.18; the “Selected Works by Gregory the Theologian” (included in Kliment Smolyatich's Epistle), as well as Palaea Interpretata. In all these manuscripts Theodoret's commentaries on the Pentateuch go back the same Slavonic translation, which can be associated with the Bulgarian literary school of the 10th century on the basis of the findings from the textual and lexical analysis.
