Summary/Abstract: Under the present operating conditions, economic entities are expected to respect employee interests through the provision of basic elements of safe working environment, such as the material working conditions, work times, social support and labour relations. The added value of such an approach is the resulting increase of the employees’ potential for motivation. This study represents an attempt at identifying the prospects for improving work safety through the stimulation of employees’ motivation potential. The author focuses on employee participation in those decision-making processes that apply to working conditions, advocating specific forms of direct participation and premises for their adoption as stimulants of employee initiatives and involvement in the studied area. The deliberations are based on the results of empirical research, both the author’s own studies and those published in professional literature.
