Summary/Abstract: Services in well-established settlement systems usually are developed in line with the concentration mechanisms. However, the rapid suburbanisation disrupts this natural way of regulating supply and demand. In suburban areas we observe usually a shortage and dispersion of services. In this paper we analyse the development of service facilities in the Wrocław district in the years 2006–2013, using the data from the registry of building permits. Studying the dynamics and spatial distribution of the new service developments indicates that the services are most frequently localized near Wroclaw borders, by the main roads and in small satellite towns. There is a visible positive relationship between housing development and the development of services, which increasingly follow the residential suburbanisation.
