The Excarnation in Republic of Macedonia

Summary/Abstract: The excarnation, as a subject of research, hasn’t been elaborated by the science researchers in Republic of Macedonia until now. This paper will include an analysis of the results derived by the archaeological researches of the necropolises in Republic of Macedonia, dating back from the period of the late Bronze Age, around 1200 BC, to the end of the period of the Iron Age, around 600 BC. The excarnation, as a burial ritual, is ascertained in several necropolises in Republic of Macedonia. This paper will present examples of the following necropolises: the necropolis Dimov Grob – Ulanci dating from the period of the Bronze Age and the necropolis Dedeli – Grchishte, Krivi Dol – Radanje, Orlovi Chuki – Star Karaorman, all dating from the period of the Iron Age. The paper will present results from other archaeological researches also, which haven’t been published yet.
