Summary/Abstract: The National Strategy of Sustainable Development, adopted by the Government of Romania, establishes the main directions in order to assimilate and apply the sustainable development principles in the next period. The main element of this Strategy is Romania’s completely crossing to o new philosophy of development, characteristic of the European Union, and of the whole world, the one of sustainable development. The economical evolutions at regional level have a great importance in our country, this fact can be seen in the growth tendency of the territorial disparities regarding: social and economical potential, understructure, but also the rational use of the resources and environment protection. This way, the ratio Gross Domestic Product per inhabitant, between the most developed region and the least developed region, is near 4, and regarding direct foreign investments attraction, the ratio has an incredible value: 50. The conclusion is evident: there must be found methods in order to reduce as soon as possible the development disparities between the eight regions in Romania.
