Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to give the phonetic specification of stressed vowels i and y in hard consonants contexts, as pronounced by ten women from Mazowsze bliższe and Kurpie. The material was analyzed based on the methodology of acoustic phonetics, and the respondents’ dialectal vowel pronunciation was shown against vowels of standard Polish language. The vowels were excised from continuous speech. The analysis took intoaccount the target frequency of the first (F1) and second (F2) formants, and the measurements were carried out using Praat program. As demonstrated by the research, the dialectal vowel i is pronounced as in standard Polish language but vowel y tends to more front pronunciation than it is in the standard equivalent in the oldest group.
