Summary/Abstract: The paper presents contemporary informal names of Bielsk Podlaski residents created by suffixal derivation from their first names. The analysis demonstrated that the creation of this group of anthroponyms is associated with suffixation processes, including progressive derivation, disintegrative substitutive derivation, and suffixation combined with disintegration (usually mutilation). The formation and use of such informal names reflects the need for effecting a differentiating function, frequently combined with an appraising and evaluating factor, such as specific formative elements used in the derivation process.
