Summary/Abstract: This paper presents examples of the use of fear as a tool of propaganda in the years 1944/45-1989 in the Polish People’s Republic. Authorities has used fear to create culture of apathy and obedience. One element of this culture was index of creatures, which one should to be afraid of – bestiary. Propagan- da created bestiaries not only as an index but also as example of attitudes and behaviors which members of the public should avoid – if only they don’t want to be a part of bestiary.
