Summary/Abstract: This article presents selected family environment factors, relevant to the implementation of the educational functions entrusted to this environment. The article consists of two parts. The first one characterizes the family environmental factors, especially: economic – social and cultural. The second one shows its own research methodology: research questions, characteristics of research tools (questionnaire sent to families of surveyed high school students and a questionnaire directed to educators of children of parents relating to a disturbance of family life), a research group (79 parents of middle school students with mild intellectual disability) and the results of empirical studies regarding selected components of family environment of middle school students with mild intellectual disabilities, which include: family structure, parents’ education, parents’ occupational activity, the financial situation of families, including conditions to learn of children of surveyed parents and disfunctions of families life. Article crowns summary of the results of empirical researches.
