Summary/Abstract: The following article is an attempt to reconstruct the image of Siberia in Polish linguistic system using the method of cognitive definition. The article concentrates on etymology of the word ‚Siberia‘, definitions, synonyms, word-formative and semantic derivatives of the lexeme. The analysis is complemented with collocations and idiomatic expressions concerning Siberia region. The data comes form dictionaries of the Polish language that document the state of the language system.
